Symptoms

AnyBackup SQL Server transaction log backup job execution failed. And under Execution Output window, you can see the errors:

Transaction log backup cannot be executed as simple recovery mode is adopted for database aishu. Please execute backup of other types or modify database recovery mode manually. From: mssqlschedule, Exception No.: 407502849.

Impact

AnyBackup SQL Server transaction log backup fails.

Cause

The Microsoft SQL Server database transaction log backup job will fail as simple recovery model is adopted for the database.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the recovery model of the database needs to be Full or Bulk-logged. The Full recovery model is recommended. To change the recovery model of the database, please follow the steps below:

Note: As shown in the following steps, the database name is 'aishu' for example.

1.      Log in to the target Windows operating system.

2.      Click Start, open SQL Server Management Studio, connect to the instance of database aishu.

3.      Expand Databases list under Object Explorer and select database aishu. Then right-click database aishu and click Properties.

4.      In the Database Properties–aishu window, click Options and change the Recovery model to Full.
